CARTHAGE, MO — Dorothy Ellen Stock Griffey, 75, a resident of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at home after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 15, 1934, in Toronto, Kan., to Louie and Mabel (Ogden) Stock.
She graduated from school in Texhoma, Okla., in 1952. She then moved to Perryton, Texas, where she raised her family until moving to Carthage in 1972.
Dorothy was a devoted wife of 54 years, a loving mother and grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Wayne Griffey, of the home; sons, Louie Wayne Griffey, Carthage, and Steve Griffey, Lee's Summit, Mo.; daughters, Kitty (Rod) Erisman, Mountain Home, Ark., and Candy Hight, Carthage; brother, Bill Stock, Birmingham, Ala.; foster son, Ronne and wife, Vanessa Cain, Emporia, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father and mother; three brothers; and one sister.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Ulmer Funeral Home.
