Source: Bluffton News-BannerWednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 Charles Lewis Harter, 90, of Bluffton, died at 9:15 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, at Meadowvale Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Jay County to Henry H. and Jessie Harter on July 28, 1917, Mr. Harter married Clara Harter in Bluffton on August 30, 1940; she survives.A 1936 graduate of Petroleum High School, Mr. Harter worked as a farmer until 1962, and as a forklift operator for Franklin Electric for 25 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Franklin Electric's Quarter Century Club, and attended Epworth United Methodist Church.Other surviving relatives include three daughters, Linda (Phillip) Gaunt of Anderson, Anna Louise (Ronald) Roach of Warren and Janine (Terry) Wallace of Muncie; four sons, Richard J. (Vicki) Harter of Cecil, Ohio; Clarence H. (Bonnie) Harter of Tulsa, Okla., Byron Keith Harter of Bluffton and Roger (Hulda) Harter of Montpelier; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 35 step-great-grandchildren and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.Mr. Harter was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Carl and Earl Harter; two sisters, Ruth Zimmerman and Martelle Bickel; and one daughter, Marilyn Joyce Harter.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Frederick officiating. Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Warren. Preferred memorials are to the Church
