Alfus "Spotty" Locke, about 43, former resident of Oregon City where he attended public schools, died Thursday morning, April 7, 1949, at his Tillamook home following an extended illness.
He was born December 12, 1906 to Joseph D. Locke and Venna E. (Dickey) Locke in Oregon City, Clackamas County, Oregon.
He married Esther Frances Smith May 12, 1934 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Tillamook, Tillamook County, Oregon.
He was a printer and at one time employed in the Enterprise office and later joined the mechanical staff of the weekly newspaper at Tillamook.
He was survived by his widow, Esther Locke, Clerk of Tillamook County; brothers, Roscoe Locke, Oregon City Fire Chief; and Austin Locke, member of the Clackamas County fire department. He was also survived by a sister, Martha Woodward of San Francisco. Two cousins also survived him; Mrs. Dorothy Martindale and Mrs. Ernestine Bennett.
