Arnold was born March 22, 1931 in New Waverly, Texas to Marion and Gladys Pursley and passed peacefully away on May 3, 2011 at his home in Centerville, Texas. At age 16, he opened his first gas station in New Waverly right across the street from his father's gas station. While attending New Waverly High School, he was captain of his football and basketball teams. He worked for Bama jellies for 18 years. Arnold was a successful, driven businessman opening his Texaco distributorship, K-P Oil, in 1960 in Conroe, Texas. He was the largest independent oil distributor in the state of Texas. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a longtime member of the Centerville 1st Baptist Church. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed life to the fullest.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Pursley; daughter, Maryln Edwards; mother, Gladys Pursley; father, Marion Pursley; and step-son Bill Pursley. Arnold is survived by his wife, Mary Pursley of Centerville; grandson, Russell Edwards and wife Ericka of Spring; son-in-law, C.D. Edwards of Centerville; great grandson, Evan Arnold Edwards; stepdaughter, Sharron Cheney and husband Darel of Conroe; step grandchildren, Mark Cheney, Brooke Cheney, Keith Milliff, and Kimberly Milliff; step great grandchildren, Collin Doherty and Elijah Cheney.
