Central Railroad Carman Passes in Savannah Hospital
Willie Joe Ray, 44, 140 Highland Avenue, died at 7:30 o'clock Monday night in the Central of Georgia Railway hospital in Savannah, it was learned here yesterday. Mr. Ray became ill last Friday and was taken to the Savannah hos­pital on Sunday. He had been a resident of Macon for the past eight years, having come here from Hancock County. He was a carman in the Central of Georgia roundhouse and a member of the Woodmen of the World lodge. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ma­bel Hitchcock Ray, formerly of Han­cock County; two sons, Cecil Ray, Savannah, and Ralph Ray, Macon; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Hunnicutt, Macon, and Miss Claire Ray, Athens; and a brother, R. A. Ray, Macon; two grandchildren, Dalton Hunnicutt, Jr., Macon, and Cecil Ray, Jr., Savannah.
The body was brought to Macon yesterday. A brief funeral service will be held in the chapel of Hart's mortuary at 12 o'clock today. Rev. A. C, Baker, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, will officiate. The regular funeral services will be conducted at the family home in Hancock county by Rev. Baker at 3:30 this afternoon. Interment will be in the family lot.
Pallbearers will be F. F. Barlow, W. Wrye, C. D. Williams, C. I. Tucker, C, B. Norris and E, G. Fields.
