Mrs. Ray Dies At Age of 85; Rites Saturday
RINGGOLD — Mrs. Mable Claire Ray, 85, who had been a housemother at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon for 12 years, died in her name Thursday afternoon after a long illness.
Mrs. Ray, widow of W. J. Ray of Hancock County, was born in Devereaux Dec. 7, 1884. She had been retired for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ringgold and was a past worthy ma­tron of Chapter 245 of the Order of Eastern Star here.
She is survived by two daugh­ters, Mrs. Claire Hayes of Ring-gold and Mrs. Sara Hunnicutt of Macon; two sons, C. E. Ray of. Norfolk, Va., and Ralph H. Ray of Ringgold; one sister, Mrs. Emma Brewer of Milledgeville; one brother, Dr. Grady Hitch­cock of Moultrie; 12 grandchil­dren and several great-grand-children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Wallis Funeral Home in Ringgold. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Dever-eux.
