James Douglas Smith, 44, passed away in St. Francis Cabini hospital in Alexandria.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Darnell United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Troy Talley and Mike Witcher officiating.
Interment followed in New Forest Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Mr. Smith was a member of Darnell United Pentecostal church and a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Peggy Smith, of Pioneer, three sons, James Smith of Bastrop, Keith and Henry Smith, both of Pioneer; two daughters, Margie and Theresa Smith, both of Pioneer; parents, James and Linnie Smith, of Pioneer; three brothers, Arthur Smith, of Epps, Henry Smith of Lake Charles, and Roger Smith of Sulphur; three sisters, Carol Churchwell, of Zachary, Diane Simms, of Epps and Sybil Hemphill, of Bastrop; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Hale, Dobbin Plunkett, Jack Payne, Travis Rawls, Kenneth McMillan, and Prentis Smith.
