William "Ben" Cooksey, 77, of Morrilton, father of Joe Cooksey of Conway, died Thursday (Aug. 17, 2000).

Born March 5, 1923, in Atkins (Pope County), son of the late Enoch and Bessie Laycook Cooksey, he was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Morrilton and an Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Crompton Mills and was a retired school bus driver from South Conway School District.
Other survivors are his wife, Lois Stroud Cooksey; two other sons, Randall Cooksey of Atkins and Terry Cooksey of Morrilton; three sisters, Brownie Randizzo of North Andover , Mass., Lorene Nottoli of Chicago and Jewell Railey of Little Rock; two brothers, Bervin Cooksey and Albert Ray Cooksey, both of Atkins; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Downtown Church of Christ with Mickey Burlson and Craig Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
