OBITUARY
Newton Perry Brown was born in Somerset County, Penn., Sept. 29, 1853 one of a family of ten children, and after a short illness, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Etta Dobson on November 2, 1938, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 3 days. When a child of only six weeks he was brought overland in a basket to a new home in Muscatine County, Iowa. He was married to Antoinette C. Garlock in 1875. They later moved to Nebraska in pioneer days, lived there for nearly forty years and then moved to Schell City, Mo., where his beloved wife preceded him in death in 1922.

He leaves an only sister, Mrs. F. K. Witmer, Des Moines, Iowa, and his seven children: Mrs. Etta Dobson, Schell City, Mo.; Roy H. Ellensburg, Wash.; Arthur J., Milo, Mo.; Mrs. Anna M. Dyer, Ellensburg, Wash.; Isaac N., Walker, Mo.; Mrs. Mabel Fullenwider, Pocatello, Idaho; and Oda C. of Davenport, Nebr., all of whom were present at his funeral except Roy H., who was unable to be present because of illness. He also leaves to remember him his 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The body was brought to Carleton where services were held Sunday, November 6, and burial was made in the Carleton Cemetery.
