Mary Lou Helmig, 73, Hope, died May 8, 2002, at her home. She was born May 13, 1928, in Osage County, a daughter of William and Maggie Ann Ray Davis. She was married June 6, 1947, in Linn, to Alva J. Helmig, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended school in Hope. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oklahoma Church of Christ. She was a member of the Hope Community Quilters. Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis J. Helmig, Monroe City, and Alan R. Helmig, O'Fallon; two daughters, Virginia D. Shields, Lonedell, and Margaret G. Barber, Clarksville; one brother, Floyd Davis, Hope; one sister, Gaile Flake, St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Church of Christ. Pastor Mark Gregor and Pastor Don King will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
