Zan Alexander Ball, 71, took his own life at his home yesterday afternoon with a rifle. Ball was pronounced dead at the local hospital. Mr. Ball was a native of Randolph County, a son of George and Hannah Robbins Ball. He was married to Sarah Whitt in January 1917. He retired from farming when his health failed and moved to High Point. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife and two brothers, Elmer Ball of Midway and Elliott Ball of the Hasty community.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in Marlboro Friends Meeting House. Rev. John Pipkin, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
