Sgt. Joseph Wesley Andrews, 52, of Jacksonville, died March 21, 2002, at Shands Jacksonville. He was a native of St. Augustine, and moved to Jacksonville from Youngstown, Ohio 20 years ago. He was a graduate of North High School of Youngstown, Ohio, a six-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force as a communications specialist, and a former member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Youngstown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Sidney Hardy Sr., pastor, officiating. The funeral cortege will assemble at 88 Catalina Circle at 2 p.m. Friday. Visiting hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Chase Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his mother and father, Deacon Tommie and Virginia Andrews, St. Augustine; two sons, Joseph Wesley Holt, Columbus, Ohio and Joseph Wesley Andrews, Gainesville; step-son, Omar Singleton, California; a step-daughter Teresa Gillam, Tallahassee; two brothers, Walter Andrews Sr., Miami; Curtis Andrews, Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Claris Jackson, Detroit, Mich.; God sister; Carolyn Andrews, St. Augustine, three grandchildren, and other relatives.
