Catherine M. (Kitty) Skillan, 90, of 430 East Bertsch St., Lansford, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 17, 2010, in Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Slava (Geusic) Skillan.

She was employed as a seamstress in many factories throughout the area until retiring after 38 years in Kiddie Kloes in Lansford.

Catherine was a lifelong resident of Lansford and a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church in Lansford.

She was also a member of the Voting Hall of Fame for voting 50 years consecutively and received a certificate of honor.

She was a member of the St. Barbara Croatian Fraternal Lodge.

For 14 years, she participated in crime watch in Lansford.

Catherine sang with Oz Werleys Big Band in the 40s and was a model for the former Brights Department Store.

She was an ardent supporter of the Panther Valley football program.

Surviving is a brother, Leonard of Plattesburg, NY; and a sister, Margaret, and her husband Dr. Frank Staneck of Summit Hill; she had 27 nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Michael, John, Joseph, and Alfred and sisters, Anna, Mary, Josephine, and Barbara. Services:

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch., Lansford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, 124 E. Abbott St., Lansford, with Rev. K.A. Medve officiating.

Interment will be held at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Summit Hill.

Call Saturday 9 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home.
