Mrs. Watson attended Mt. Crawford Academy and Von Bora College, Luray.
On Sept. 25, 1895, she married Joseph T. Carr who died in 1914. IN 1921 she married Lewis Brasehaw Watson.
Mrs. Watson had been a resident of Waynesboro since 1899. She was one of the first members of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, acting as organist for many years. She also organized the Young Women's Missionary Society at the church and gave support and strength to all of the church's organizations. Mrs. Watson was also an active participant in civic organizations, being a charter member of the Library Board, Welfare Alliance and held offices in the Daughter of the Confederacy and Women's Christian Temperance Union.
The survivors include one daughter, Miss Louise K. Carr, Roanoke; one brother, the Rev. J. I. Coiner, Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. O. L. Cohron, Stuarts Draft; three step-daughters, Mrs. John Lipes, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. W. G. Surber, Warrenton, and Mrs. J. H. Brashears, Washington, D. C.; one step-son, R. Y. Watson, Clifton Forge; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Body will remain at the McDow-Tyree Funeral Home where it may be viewed until 1 p.m. Sunday when it will be placed in the Grace Lutheran Church. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by Dr. Melvin S. Lang, Staunton. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Vernon C. McCune, Roger M. Coiner, Carl Coiner, Emmett Wright, C. A. Marks and Ward Lee Cohron.
Honorary bearers will be Dr. Floyd Leonard, Dr. C. C. Freed, Dr. John Obenschain, E. L. Keiser, Dr. S. F. Grove, E. M. East, Wesley Ely, W. D. Quesenbery, Judge C. G. Quesenbery, W. E. Shumate, Ralph Wine, John R. Henkle Sr., J. Guy Rusmiselle, J. F. Boward, and O. C. Landes.
