Lester Eudell Gibson was born May 6, 1861, at Big Rapids, Mich, the fourth of six children of William and Charlotte Gibson. When he was six years old, the family moved from Big Rapids to Pentwater, Mich. After completing the 10th grade school at Pentwater, he graduated from Ludington, Mich. High School in 1880. The family moved to Nebraska in 1880 and homesteaded in Custer county in 1881. In 1883, he took a homestead adjacent to his parents and about this time established the Eudell Post Office, of which he was postmaster for six years.
He was married to Ella Ruth Sater on January 29, 1888. To this union four children were born; Addie Ruth died in infancy. His wife, Ella R. Gibson, died September 17, 1933.
He operated the homestead continuousluy until 1940, although for six years, he resided in Miller where he was partner and owner of a general merchandise business. Since 1941, he has resided in Sherman county and has lived with his son, Herbert, the last two years. He died at Lincoln, June 17, 1946, while visiting his daughter.
He is survived by two sons, Herbert A. of Loup City and Louis D. of Broken Bow, and one daughter, Leola B. Ogden of Lincoln, also by nine Grandchildren and 11 Great-frandchildren.
Funeral Services were held in Ansley Thursday morning, June 20 with Cathmar D. Ratcliff, Minister of the Christian Church in Ansley in Charge. Mrs. Wilbur Gard sang. Interment was in the Ansley Cemetery. (27Jun 1946, Custer County Chief, Broken Bow, Custer County, Nebraska)
