Maude A. Clawson

Mrs. Maude A. "Granny Maude" Clawson, 85, 140 McKinley Clawson Road, Butler went home to be with her Lord with her beloved family surrounding her Thursday, May 13, 2010 following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dollie Dellinger. Granny Maude was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Elk Mills Christian Church.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Clawson, five daughters, Wanda Clawson, Annie Gentry, Molly Whaley, Bonnie Rethea Clawson and Nellie Sue Clawson and one son, McKinley Clawson, Jr. Survivors include her children, Betty Dugger and husband Terry; Homer Clawson; Billy Clawson; Beryl Clawson and wife Geneva; Paul Clawson and Sue; Bobby Clawson and wife Sandra and Delbert Clawson and Shelly, all of Butler. Fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren also survive.


Funeral service for Mrs. Maude A. "Granny Maude" Clawson will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Elk Mills Christian Church with Mr. Terry Dugger, Mr. Andy Lunceford and Mr. Frank Johnson, ministers officiating. Music will be under the direction of Earl and Ruth Dugger, Gail Evans and Dallas Odom. Interment will follow the funeral service in Clawson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Clawson, Johnny Clawson, Kenny Clawson, Joe Clawson, Adam Clawson, Seth Payne, Dale Watson and Aaron Guinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Whaley, Michael Dellinger and Russell Potter.


The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, May 15, 2010 or at the residence at other times. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Johnson County Home Health, the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice and to Rebecca, Jennifer, Dakota, Angie, Geneva and Sandra for their loving care to Mrs. Clawson.
