Mr. Skomski, owner and operator of Skomski Funeral Home, was pronounced dead on arrival at DeGraff Memorial Hospital at 1:10 p.m. shortly after becoming ill at his home at 549 Oliver St.
Mr. Skomski's daughter, Susan, who was married Saturday to Patrick E. Purcell, was contacted on her European honeymoon and was scheduled to return from London later today.
Other survivors include his wife, Susan (nee Vandiford) Skomski; two sons, James of Meadville, Pa., and S. Thomas Skomski of North Tonawanda; his mother, Mrs. Katherine Skomski of Medina, two brothers, Walter F. of North Tonawanda and Watson J. Skomski of Akron, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Theresa) Boyce) of Medina, and one grandchild.
Born in Medina, Mr. Skomski resided in the Tonawandas for the past 25 years. He was a veteran of World War II, a life member of Stephen Sikora Post 1322, American Legion, and a member of Dom Polski and Amvets Post 26. He also belonged to the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, the Third Warder Social Club, Ukrainian Club 17 and Polish National Alliance 963.
The Rev. Chester F. Kotkiewicz will officiate at services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Skomski Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery
