James Albert Jacoby, born and raised in Arkansas, was the son of Conrad Augustus Jacoby and Elizabeth "Pattie" Garrett. He married Lillie Oleta Chasteen/Shasteen 16 JAN 1936 in Shreveport, LA.

He and Lillie had three children, Jimmie Alice Jacoby Kelly, Deanna Elizabeth Jacoby Weaver, and George Thomas Jacoby.

He worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service, but spent much time making sure his grandkids had National Geographic and other educational books, instilling in them a love of nature, which he shared.

He especially loved birds, and most of all the red birds/cardinals. Seeing beauty in the natural world was one of his gifts, and as his daughter Deanna has said, "He wouldn't have hurt an ant."

He also loved baseball, having played himself in his youth, and he passed that love onto his children and grandkids as well. I'm sure a sunny afternoon with the windows open, hearing the birds outside, while watching the Astros or Braves play on t.v. would've been a lovely day to him...
