He drove Summers County school buses for 30 years, and during most of that time was also a bus mechanic. He enjoyed gardening and helping his wife, Clara, can and freeze their produce. During his retirement he did woodworking, making crafts, and hunting turkey and deer in the fall.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Clara Faye Vest Arthur, and his parents, George & Inez Palmer Arthur.
Survivors include daughter, Carol Woodcock and her husband, Woody, both of Alabama; son, Gary Arthur and his wife, Margie, of West Virginia; grandchildren, Shelley Harbour and her husband, Kelly, and Angela Lewis and her husband, John, all of West Virginia; Jeffrey Woodcock and his wife, Kim, both of Nebraska, and Andrea Shakal, of Florida; brother, Jacob Arthur; sister Georgia Hemelt of Maryland; sisters-in-law, Cora Lee Arthur & Anna Stanley.
