Wayne Gray Arthur, 70, of 191 Andrews Lane, Altavista, died on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born Aug. 12, 1934, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Allie Van Arthur and Lola Nancy Webber Arthur. He was a retired employee of Southern Air and a U. S. Navy veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Anita Johnson of Germany; two grandchildren, Michael Yarborough and Rachael Johnson; one uncle, Page Webber; one aunt, Dollie Webber; special extended family, Pam and Timmy Painter; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a special friend of 20 years, Dottie Cantrell. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Finch & Finch Chapel by the Rev. Jim Critchley. Interment will follow at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Finch & Finch Inc. Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
