Miller attended Bacone University for a number of years before enlisting in the United States Navy on March 31, 1944. He received an honorable discharge in January of 1946.
He married Elizabeth Joshua on May 30, 1946. She preceded Miller in death on April 13, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Miller, Ben Tiger, Charlie Johnson; and two sisters, Mary Perryman and Joyce Miller.
He was survived by one son, Sam Miller of the home; one sister, Marie Crittenden; and one brother, George Miller of Coweta.
