CARRIKER, Vera M. Pool Adkins

Mrs. Vera M. Carriker, 52, of 1403 Kansas St. died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Carriker had been a resident of Muscatine since 19?8.

She was born June 26, 1911, the daughter of Alonzo D. and Celia Anson Pool, in Van Buren County, and had formerly lived at Fairfield. Her first marriage was to George Adkins. She was married Oct. 17, 1948, at Kahoka, Mo., to Chester M. Carriker.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Raymond H. Adkins and Leonard G. Adkins, both of Muscatine; two stepsons; two daughters, Mrs. James J. Rickey of Muscatine and Mrs. Raymond Kepler of Eldon, Mo.; five step daughters; six brothers, Harold, Raymond and Willard Pool, all of Detroit, Wallace Pool of Rockford, Ill., Bernard Pool of Orange, Calif., and Orville Pool of Fort Madison; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Boge of Salem, Ia., Mrs. Adrian Paris of Goring, Mo., and Mrs. Paul Sanders of St. Louis, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

The body is now at the George M. Wittich funeral home, where Talmadge Murphy will conduct funeral services at 1:30 pm. Monday.
