Bonaventura "Tura" Hammerschmidt
HAYS — Bonaventura "Tura" Hammerschmidt, 90, Hays, died Monday, Oct. 28, 1996, at Good Samaritan Center of Hays. Mr. Hammerschmidt was born May 2, 1906, at Walker and was a resident of Hays since 1969, moving from the farm. He was a farmer and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Catherine in 1964 and Mary in 1980.
Survivors include two brothers, Herman of Russell and Lawrence of Hays; and two sisters, Philomena Windholz of Victoria and Caroline Schrant-Dubois of Salina. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Rev. Carl Kramer officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Walker.
A vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays. Memorials may be made to the church or Good Samaritan Center. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary, 22nd and Canterbury, Hays 67601.
