Francis (Frank) Dabney was the son of Samuel and Jane Meriwether Dabney of Louisa County Virginia. In the War of 1812 Francis served as a corporal in Capt. Fraser's Company, from the 83rd Regiment, Virginia Militia, commanded by Lt. Col. James Scott. He was a lawyer by profession and never married.
