Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Sapp Brockman, 64, were held last Thursday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the Union Ridge Methodist Church with burial in the Spurlington Cemetery. The Rev. Wallace Parker and the Rev. J. A. McDowell were in charge of the services. Mrs. Brockman died enroute to the Rosary Hospital Tuesday, June 28, at 10:30 p.m. She had been in ill health for the past several months. Born September 17, 1890 in Taylor County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Sapp and Mrs. Mary Bet Hardesty Sapp. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Union Ridge Methodist Church. She united in marriage to Mr. W. A. Brockman on November 14, 1907. To this union two sons and six daughters were born. Surviving are Mrs. Leonard Benningfield, Mrs. Kelcy Marcum, Mrs. Gracie Bright, Charles Brockman, and Albert Brockman, all of Taylor County; Mrs. Alex Shively, Marion County; one brother, Edd Sapp, of Marion County and one sister, Mrs. Rube Underwood of Spurlington; also ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Lefrey Colvin, Johnnie Page, Lawrence Brockman, Marvin Wise, Howard Brockman and Junior Bowles.
