DICK PIGG, RESIDENT FOR MANY YEARS IN BONNE TERRE, DIES

R. C. (Dick) Pigg, a long-time resident and businessman of Bonne Terre, died in Farmington, Sunday, May 5.

Before leaving Bonne Terre some 20 years ago to live in St. Louis, he had operated a livery stable for a number of years in Bonne Terre starting back in the horse and buggy days then operating a taxi service after automobiles came into use. At one time being appointed road overseer by the County Court,he helped build the old rock road from Bonne Terre to Desloge.

Richard Christopher Pigg, son of Henry R. and Malinda Cook Pigg, was born in East Bonne Terre, November 13, 1872 and died at Farmington, May 5, 1946, aged 73 years, 5 months 22 days.

He was married to Mary F. Herod on September 30, 1891. To this union four daughters were born: Mrs. Bertha Leffler, Mrs. Mary Moore, Mrs. Florence Zimmer and Mrs. Nellie Tetley, all of St. Louis.

He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ransom of Esther and Mrs. Alice Davis, Bonne Terre; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Bonne Terre by Rev. Ernest Towler assisted by Rev. W. E. Hicks. Burial was in Bonne Terre Cemetery. Benham Service.
