Donald Schenk

A celebration of life will be held sometime in August in Sandy for Donald Schenk of Eugene, who died May 7 of age-related causes. He was 86.

He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Brown County, Minn., to Gustav and Laura Lueth Schenk. He married Leona D. Krause on May 31, 1951, in Gresham. She died on Aug. 12, 1996.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was in the military police during World War II.

He was a carbon setter and potman from 1952 to 1983 at Reynolds Aluminum in Troutdale.

Survivors include a daughter, Lauralynn Hollister of Eugene; two sons, John Schenk of Portland and Gustav Schenk of Sandy; a half-brother, Jerry Korstad of Rochester, Minn.; and nine grand­children and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Larry Schenk, died in 2005.
