Private Loy was mustered out at Lafayette, Indiana, March 1, 1864. Columbus then re-enlisted as a private on October 18, 1864, and was mustered into the 16th Indiana Independent Light Artillery Battery. Private Loy was mustered out at Indianapolis July 5, 1865.
