Otmer was the son of King Solomon Potter and Eliza Keen Potter.. Direct decendent of Pocahontas..Husband of Avonelle Adkins Potter they were married 48 years..Father of Glema Faye Potter,Martin Lee Potter,Bonnie Mae Potter Phillips,Carol Ann Potter Ratliff & Mona Rose Potter Crum..Grandfather of 7..Great grandfather of 8...Deeply missed and loved by his family...Papaw enlisted in the army duing WWII leaving behind a wife and two very young children. He was stationed in the Luzon where he volunteered to become first scout. Searching out and killing the enemy. I asked my grandmother why he took on this task as it was so very dangerous. She replied that Papaw felt guilty watching all the "city boys dying." He had practically raised himself after his parents died. He hunted to survive and he knew he could survive this. He was awarded the Bronze Star for saving 4 men. He served as 1st scout for over a year, until victory was declared, that was quiet a feat as the life expectancy for a 1st scout was 3 days. After he returned from the war he and my grandmother had 3 more children, my Mom was the first to be born after his return. I'm very proud to call him Papaw...Anyone can be a grandfather, only the special ones are Papaw's...I miss you...Cause of death: Cancer
