LEONA E. BARBER, 89 DENVER - Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher. Born Dec. 30, 1925, and died Jan. 29, 2010. Survived by children, Marsha Barber, Paula Boll, Carla Atwood, Laura Fraley and Dave Barber; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Leona was married to Charles for 54 years; he preceded her in death. Leona's living siblings are Margaret Seeboeck, Norma Holladay, John Wente and Karl Wente. Miss Leona Elizabeth Wente, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Wente and Charles Eugene Barber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barber, were married Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Mary's church in Neoga by Rev. M. J. Crowley. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Holladay, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.
Bouquets of white lilies decorated the alter and pink roses were on the side altars.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white slipper satin gown made with a net yoke, outlined with a bertha of the satin, long pointed sleeves and train. Her illusion fingertip length veil was held in place by a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a white orchid on her prayer book.
Mrs. Holliday wore a long blue taffeta gown with blusher to match and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations with blue delphinium and white satin streamers. The men wore light business suits.
Mrs. Wente and Mrs. Barber both wore navy blue dresses with corsages of pink and white carnations.
A reception for 125 guests followed the wedding at the home of the bride.
Mrs. Barber taught commerce in the Stonington high school last year. Mr. Barber is employed at the Neoga Equipment and Service Company. After a week's wedding trip they will reside in the Hayes apartment in Neoga.
