Albert A. Lyke, 67, of Canton, OH passed away Feb. 28, 1945. He was a patient in the Veterans Hospital at Aspinwall, PA, after a long illness. Albert saw service in the Philippines and Cuba during the Spanish-American War.
Albert was on the USS Southery, stationed in Portsmouth, NH.
A Canton, OH resident for 33 years, he was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and a member of the First Baptist Church, Canton Camp No. 55, United Spanish War Veterans, and Floyd Hughes Post. Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Della Lyke of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Forsberg; one son, Charles A. Lyke of Canton; his mother, Mrs. Francis Lyke of Detroit; one sister Mrs. Grace Cornelius of Detroit; three brothers, Earnest and Fred of Northville, MI, and Arthur Lyke (Find A Grave #15037213) of Topeka, KS, and three grandchildren.
Services were held Sat. March 3, 1945, at the Arnold Parlors at 2 P.M. Rev. J.H. Satterfield was in charge of the service. Burial was held in the soldiers plot at Forest Hills Cemetery, Canton, OH. Spanish War Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars were in charge of graveside services.
