Benjamin married Seraph Ellis marriage record, on 15 Jun, 1824 in Barnard. His parents were Daniel Abbott Sr. and Elanor Blodgett. They had six children, three of whom are interred near them in the Abbott Cemetery:

George Benjamin Abbott 1825 – 1900
Ellenor Blodgett Abbott 1827 – 1843
Seraph Augusta Abbott (first( 1831 – 1834
Seraph Augusta Abbott (second) 1834 – 1842
Mary Emily Abbott 1836 – 1872
Benjamin Franklin Abbott 1840 – 1924

Benjamin remarried in Stockbridge, Windsor, Vermont after the death of Seraph to widow Sarah (Wellington) Russell (b. 1815 New Hampshire), whose prior husband was Gregory Russell of Bethel. Benjamin and Sarah's marriage was also recorded in Bethel. Rev S A Davis, Minister, presided.

Benjamin Abbott and Sarah Wellington Russell had no children. Interestingly, his and Seraph Ellis daughter, Mary Emily, married a man named Warren Leonard French, whose parents were Leonard French and Sarah (Wellington) French.

It is not known if the Sarah Wellington that Benjamin married was also the widow of Leonard French. He married her just months after the marriage of Mary Emily and Warren on 2 Dec, 1858 in Stockbridge.

However, the marriage index from Vermont cites that this was her third marriage, so the possibility is high that she was not only Benjamin's third wife, but also Mary Emily's mother-in-law!

Sarah Wellington is not buried in the Abbott Cemetery. Her parents were Abel Wellington and Eliza (UNKNOWN). Sarah was born in Walpole, New Hampshire.

Benjamin's farm in Stockbridge was sold upon his death in 1886.
