George Rueben Cottrell "Booger Red," 86, of El Dorado, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

Born July 17, 1923, in Three Creeks, he was the son of the late Hiram Benjamin "Boss" Cottrell and Junie (Cole) Cottrell. George was a storekeeper for Arkansas Power & Light Co. and retired after 40 years of service. He served four years overseas in the U.S. Army as a corporal in World War II.

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all. He was a strong believer in Christ and loved his church, Three Creeks Baptist. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, flowers, walking, and eating out so that he could be with his friends.

He loved everyone and will greatly be missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Frankie Bailey Cottrell, and his second wife, Peggy Roberson Cottrell; three brothers, Charlie "T Bo," Joel, and Ralph Cottrell; four sisters, Virginia Mohling, Fannie Roberts, Susie Griffith, and Elizabeth Bailey Smith.

Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Dalzell and her husband, Bill; son, Ricky Roberson and his wife, Shirley; grandson, Wil Dalzell and his wife, Brandi; granddaughter, April Fennel and her husband, Jason; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law; and many friends.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Three Creeks Baptist Church with the Rev. James Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in Old Three Creeks Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
