Viola Mary Gednalske,96, of Dell Rapids, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Dell Rapids.

Viola was born Jan. 25, 1912 at Denison, Iowa, to Fred and Bertha Kahl. She grew up at Deloit, Iowa and attended school in Denison. She moved with her brother to Colman in 1928. Viola married Lewis Gednalske on Nov. 8, 1929, at Flandreau.

Viola worked at the Sheraton Café in Dell Rapids for a number of years. She later worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Sioux Falls as a home health care provider for 40 years.

Grateful for having shared in her life are five children: LeRoy of Dell Rapids, James (Janice) of Sioux Falls, Bob (Betty) of Sioux Falls, Ronald (Bonnie) of Harrisburg; and Diannna Rogers, Dell Rapids; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dick; and six siblings.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home handled arrangements and a prayer service was held on March 17, at the funeral home.
