Final services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Briley Goza Mayfield were held at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Runnels County, Texas in May 2010. The daughter of Robert Lee Briley, Sr. and the former Myrtle Best Wood, Mrs. Mayfield was born December 9, 1940 in Winters. She passed away in Longview, Texas on May 9, 2010.

Mrs. Mayfield, owner of Glory Bee Creations, retired from the Kroger company prior to joining Sam's Club from which she retired after eight years of service.

Mrs. Mayfield held degrees from Panola College in Computer Information Systems and Applied Science from the California College for Health Sciences, majoring in Medical Transcription and Computers Information Systems.

On May 29, 1972, Gloria married Elmer A. "Red" Mayfield. They shared 35 years of devotion until his death on August 6, 2007.

A 17-year member and officer of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Thomas J. Rusk Chapter, Mrs. Mayfield also held memberships in the United Daughters of The Confederacy; the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Longview; the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century; and the Magna Charter Dames.

A member of the Texas Genealogy Association and an Accredited Genealogist of the American College of Genealogists, Mrs. Mayfield was the author of several books about her ancestors. She was active in the Texas GenWeb, served from 1999-2000 as the SW/SC CC Rep, USGenWeb Advisory Board and web mistress of the Cemeteries of Texas, Texas Surnames, and numerous county websites.

A woman who gave of herself in full measure, Mrs. Mayfield was also a member of the Women Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; The American Legion Women Auxiliary; and the Auxiliary of the Disabled Veterans Association; and the Order of the Eastern Star, in which she was Past Matron of the Henderson Chapter No. 597, and an endowed member of Carthage, Chapter No 747. She was of the Baptist Faith, currently a member of the Bar None Cowboy Church in Tatum.

Left to mourn her passing are her children Briley M. Dailey, Glynna D. Reser, June Grattan, Ruth Parker, Sandra Garcia, and Debora Gilotte; grandchildren Morgan Dailey, Billy Charles Dailey II, Kristal Reser, Travis Wayne Reser, Misty Watson,Jerome Anders, Jennifer Biogre, Jande' La'Ulu, Jarel Anderson, Steven Grattan, Jimmy Warner, Alan Parker, Sabrina Garcia, Marsial Garcia, Manel Garcia, Sasha Garcia, Janice Vanover, and Jake Jones. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mayfield was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son Glen Gregg Goza II, her daughter Linda Mayfield Jennings, and her granddaughter Wendy Warner.

Mrs. Mayfield's selfless contributions to genealogical research have been of immense help to others who are documenting their family history. She will be sorely missed.
