Myron M. Streeter, 74 of South Elgin passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 in the Alderwood Care Center, South Elgin.

    He was born March 25, 1926 in Clyde, Ohio, the son of Merle and Thelma Dignan Streeter.

    He was a graduated of Ohio University with a degree in Accounting. He moved to Chicago in 1951, Park Ridge in 1959 and had been a resident of South Elgin since 1964. He had been employed by Union Bag Corp. and Squirt Bottling Co. before retiring. He was a published author with Snuffed Out, a stop smoking system and was also a published songwriter. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.

    He assisted in drafting the Illinois State Law on Handicap Parking. He headed several small business's including V.I.S.I.O.N., S.W.A.C. and I.H.A.P. He was a member of the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clyde, Ohio and was a past president of the Toastmasters.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mylene M. Mayes of South Elgin; three sons,Myron M. Streeter Jr. of Aurora, Chris L. Streeter of Spring Grove and Jeffrey S. Streeter of South Elgin; six grandchildren, Melissa B. Mayes Ballard, Stephanie Mayes, S. Michael, Sky C., Terra C. and Jeffrey S. Streeter Jr.; and a sister, Phyllis Folk of Bellevue, Ohio.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Biller Streeter in 1996; and a brother, Robert L. Streeter.

    Private Memorial Services will be held for the family. Private interment will be in Clyde, Ohio.

    Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
