Catherine Elizabeth Burdick
Catherine Elizabeth Hogue was born in Peru, Iowa, Aug. 22, 1856, and died at her home in Beverly Aug. 15, 1929. She was married to Edwin Burdick Sept. 4, 1875, and together they came to Kansas in 1878 to make their home. They settled in Lincoln County, first on a homestead, later moving to Beverly. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago, leaving her a family of small children to care for. She courageously and willingly worked for them and raised them to maturity.
She was a real pioneer woman and mother enduring hardships and sorrows which we will never know. Many years ago she was converted and joined the Christian church. She has always held fast to her faith and trust in her God and was glad to go home to glory when He called her.
