Travis grew up in Jonesboro and graduated from Jonesboro HS in 1946. He was married to Nelda Don Covington on April 24, 1946. They had three children. They went their separate ways on April 24, 1973.

He resided in San Angelo where he was a barber for many years and finally retiring in 1994. He moved back to Gatesville in 1997 and was a member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197 A.F. & A.M., where he received his 50-yuear pin in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

Travis was 75 years old at the time of his death on July 14, 2004. He was preceded in death by a sister, Neoma Southland; and two brothers, Arthur Raymond and Ernest Roy Holden.

He left a son, Steve; two daughters, Debbye and Cindy; two sisters, Ella Hollingsworth & Estelle Boynton; two brothers, Garlan Holden and Raye Holden and several grandchildren.

Travis was buried at Greenbriar with Masonic Rites.
