Husband of Lucy Taggert Wakefield. Lucy is the daughter of James Maury and Katherine Keziah Beard Wakefield.

McMAKIN, CHARLES NUDIGATE, Sigma Nu, Zeta #0077, (b Shelbyville, Kentucky, March 18, 1878; Louisville, Kentucky, January 20, 1950). Occupation: Tobacco farmer. His parents were Benjamin L. McMakin (1850-1929) and Virginia Miller (1850-1921). In 1896 and 1897 he attended Central University in Richmond, Kentucky. He was initiated into the Zeta Chapter of Sigma Nu National Fraternity in 1896. He did not graduate and became a burley tobacco farmer in his home county. In 1902 he married Miss Lucy Wakefield (1877-1965). From this marriage was born a son, Morry Lee McMakin (1903-1990). He was a Shelby County manager for the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association. He and his wife are buried in Grove Hill Cemetery, Section P Lot 108, Shelbyville.
