Funeral service for Mr. Albert J. Manchaca , age 94, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Moral Cemetery. Mr. Manchaca died May 1, 2004, in Nacogdoches.

Born October 31, 1909, in Nacogdoches, he was the son of Lula (Morey) Manchaca and John Manchaca. Mr. Manchaca was a self employed business man. He owned Ley Road Liquors for more than thirty years and was also a truck driver for 30 years. He was a member of the Catholic church. Mr. Manchaca lived in Houston for many years with his first wife, Marie Manchaca, whom he was married to for more than 49 years. When his wife passed away he moved back to Nacogdoches in 1991. He married Mrs. Rudy (Montes) Rodrigues Manchaca in 1993. Mr. Manchaca loved to build things made of wood. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune. He also used to build bee hives and sell the honey.

Survivors include wife, Ruby Manchaca; step-sons & daughters-in-law, Danny and Margaret Rodrigues of Nacogdoches, Randy and Judy Rodrigues of Nacogdoches; nieces and nephews, Sylvia and Kenneth Shotwell of Nacogdoches, Linda and Jerry Rusk of Nacogdoches; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Manchaca was preceded in death by wife, Marie (Rodgers) Manchaca; son, James A. Manchaca; brothers, Vernon Manchaca, Clayton Manchaca, Alfred Manchaca; and sister, Lorene Montes. Active pallbearers will be Randy Rodrigues, Ricky Manchaca, Carl Manchaca, John Manchaca, Cody Hernandez and Donald Rodgers.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 1422 CR 724, Nacogdoches, Texas, 75964.The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004 with rosary at 7 p.m.Laird-McGill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Gravesite Details

1st married Marie Rogers and they had one son James Anthony Manchaca who shares his headstone with his father. 2nd married Ruby in 1993.
