Byrd died Monday, June 9, 2008, in Decatur. Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Smyrna to John and Dell Grimes, she was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Byrd; a son, Charles Byrd; and a daughter, Jeannine Robbins.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Lynda Byrd; son-in-law, Clifton Robbins; grandchildren, Alan Byrd and wife, Kristi, Mike Byrd and wife, Helen, Lori Coyne and husband, Michael, Kent Robbins and wife, Susan, Lisa Mewbourn and husband, Rick, and Mark Robbins and wife, Nancye; and 12 great-grandchildren.
