Rex was the son of Isaac Vanburt McPherson and Bessie Bernette and the husband of Mary.
1922-1926 Prosecuting Attorney of Lawrence County.
Rex served in WW1 in the 26th New England Division, 103rd machine gun batallion in France with the Allied Expeditionary forces. In 1940 he was recalled to active duty.During WW2 he served the US Navy, 203 Coast Artillery. He was discharged as a Colonel. He served 36 years of active government duty. He became a Curcuit Judge 1950-1954.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, VFW and Missouri Bar Association.
Brothers Kenneth, Joseph and John Vernon also served.
