James Roy Thomas died at 10:00 Monday evening at the Chillicothe hospital. Mr. Thomas had been hospitalized since suffering a coronary last Thursday.
The son of Phillip and Mary Josephine (Rickett) Thomas, Roy was born near Sturges, MO. He attended rural schools in Livingston County. On November 2, 1920 he married Ella Hicks in Chillicothe. Roy spent his lifetime in Chillicothe and Livingston Co. He was an employee of the Chillicothe police department for many years. He left the department and delivered mail from the Post Office to the rail stations for 20 years. He returned to the police department in 1952.
Roy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, National Police Officers Assn. and Modern Woodsman of America..
He had 2 sons: Billy and Max, and a daughter, Shirley Moore.
