Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Kraemer Cantrelle, of Houma; three sons,
Karl Alphonse Cantrelle Sr. of Houma,
Carol A. Cantrelle Jr. and wife, Karen Bass Cantrelle, of Houma, and
Abel A. Cantrelle and wife, Amy Voisin Cantrelle, of Houma;
one daughter, Charmaine Cantrelle Chaisson and husband, Lawrence J. Chaisson of Houma; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Cantrelle and Gerald Cantrelle; and one sister, Janice C. Windham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel Alphonse Cantrelle and Effie Guidroz Cantrelle; one daughter, Wanda Cantrelle Romero; and one sister, Joyce C. Marcel.
He was retired with the Sheriff's Department and started the K-9 Unit while there. He was also the owner of Cantrelle Fence Company and Supply for 53 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Past Master of Walter Irving Lanier # 307 Masonic Lodge in the year 2002, The Shriners, Fraternal Order of the Police, American Legion and VFW.
