A GOLD STAR MOTHER DIES
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lydia Dalrymple, Long-Time Resident
Mrs. Lydia H. Dalrymple, 79, of 2438 Darien street, wife of the late G.W. Dalrymple and a Gold Star mother, died at her home yesterday. Several years ago Mrs. Dalrymple went on a Gold Star mother's pilgrimage to France to visit the grave of her son, H. Homer Dalrymple, who was killed in the World war.
Mrs. Dalrymple had lived in Shreveport for 23 years, coming with her husband from Bossier parish where she had been a resident for 40 years. She was born in Alabama.
Mr. Dalrymple, who died in 1927, was a former Bossier parish planter and former employee of the Texas and Pacific railway. At the time of his death he was employed by the city.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dalrymple will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Queensborough Baptist church with Dr. C.W. Culp, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of the Rose-Neath funeral home.
Surviving Mrs. Dalrymple are the following children: J.I. Dalrymple of Shreveport, Will Dalrymple of Shreveport, Will Dalrymple of Benton, Mrs. E.H. Reed, Mrs. L.C. Jenkins, Mrs. Gordon Leckie, all of Shreveport, Mrs. J.L. Merritt of Benton and Mrs. R.W. Smith of Bossier City; one sister, Mrs. Sophie Jaggers of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be her grandsons.
