The former Selma Hanssen was born Sept. 1, 1904, in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of the late Frederick and Dora Refiners Hanssen. She attended district school. She married James Lechler Sept. 24, 1925, at Plymouth. The couple farmed the Hanssen homestead farm in the Town of Eaton. Mr. Lechler died in 1947. Mrs. Lechler was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, New Holstein, and of the Eaton Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Grace) Mueller, of rural Kiel, and Mrs. Steven (Doris) Gross, rural Elkhart Lake; four sons, Nelson, rural New Holstein, Eugene and Roy, both of rural Kiel, and Ray, of Kiel; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and a sister, Viola Peik, of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. Albert K. Borns, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in the Eaton Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
