David Richard Gilboy, 75, of Rome, passed away, Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born October 20, 1934 in Saratoga Springs, New York, the son of Harrison and Lena Rose Gilboy. On July 25, 1958 he married Virginia S. Meyers in Rome.

David was employed by Lewis's Meat Market, Liberty Lane Restaurant, Oneida Chemical, Ames, Whitney's Janitorial Service and was the Supervisor of Maintenance at Broadacres. He later retired from Lou's Cleaning Service.

David's favorite pasttime was deer hunting and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; a daughter, Barbara Gilboy; one son, David W. Gilboy and his fiance, Cindy Kimball; one granddaughter, Holly Gilboy; two special great-grandaughters, Georgia and Skylar Gilboy; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Dawne Lasher and a sister-in-law, Barbra Gilboy. He was predeceased by his parents, one son, John Gilboy, a sister, Thelma Lafave, two brothers, Robert and Charles Gilboy, and two step-brothers, Frank and Bill Rose.

Funeral services will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome, with Rev. Arthur Miner officiating. Interment Rome Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
