She was the widow of Quincy A. Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Carrie Beattie Gwyn; and one brother, Beattie Gwyn.
She was the oldest member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a member for the longest period of time. She was active in civic and music clubs in the area.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donald D. and Carolyn Jones and Jack B. and Rosamond McCarty, all of Marion; one sister-in-law, Edythe Gwyn; five grandchildren: Gwyn Ruckert, Jack B. McCarty III, Laura Sturgill, Kathy Herlocker and Cal Jones; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Pollock and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Weekday Religious Education Program, c/o Robert Veselik, P.O. Box 83, Marion, VA 24354.
