Bertha Lee Bridges
The Oak Ridger

Bertha Lee Bridges, age 71, a resident of the Batley community in Anderson County, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at her home. Bertha was born April 18, 1936, in Anderson County.She was a loving wife and mother and a faithful member of Batley Baptist Church. Before her retirement she was employed in the environmental services department at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brance Haney and Hallie Mae Sweet Haney.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Trent Bridges of Clinton; by three daughters, Debra Anne Belden and husband, Don, of Sarasota, Fla., Loretta Sue Reed of New Port Richey, Fla., and Vivian Ruth Haga of Sarasota, Fla.; and by grandchildren, Halle Belden, Chris Reed, Danielle Reed, Logan Haga, and Blake Haga, all of Florida. She has two brothers, Elmer Haney and wife, Mary, and Willard Haney and wife, Alma, of the Batley Community. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Rita Yarborough, Shannon Bridges, Vicki French and Jason Bridges; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Batley Baptist Church with Pastor Luke Kidwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Batley Cemetery.Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
