Homer Melton Davis, 72, retired farmer, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday at his home in Providence after an illness of several months. Son of the late Thomas and Nanie Davis, he was born in Webster county. He was a member of Green Grove Baptist church. Surviving are the wife, the former Miss Lula May Williams; five daughters, Mrs. Lillian Clevenger and Mrs. Pauline Duncan, Providence, Mrs. Eddie Pearl Krantz of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Minnie Baker of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Wilma Dean Baker of Princeton; eight sons, Harold, Clyde, Denver, James and Elgin of Providence, Atrice, Paul and Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; 30 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Leeper of Providence, Mrs. Estell Stone of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Blanch Hill, Providence rural route. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Grove church, with the Rev. E.G. Sisk of Dixon officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.E. Siria of Madisonville. Burial was in Cullen cemetery near Providence.
